Facebook advertising is an extremely cost-effective way to get your products and services in front of a targeted audience.
There are different types of ads you can create to either increase likes and engagement on your page or to drive traffic to your website.Your advertising budget can be as little as $20 for a 3 day promotion to reach thousands of potential customers.
Facebook allows you to specify who will see the ad you create. Your audience can be segmented by country, city, region, gender, age group and interests to make sure only people who are actually likely to buy from you are shown your ad.
Facebook Page Promotions
The first thing you will want to do if you haven’t been on Facebook long, is to do a Page promotion aimed at getting as many people in your target market as possible to like your page.
If you have less than 100 likes, you should do this before you spend any advertising money on other types of advertising. By increasing the number of likes on your page, you make sure that everything you post of Facebook is seen by a whole lot more people. This increases the reach of everything you do on Facebook (organic or paid).
Facebook Post Promotions
This is where you can promote one of the updates you add to Facebook. Ideally you would pay to promote something a little bit special which would send people to your website or make them take some kind of action. The types of updates you could promote include, products, services, special offers, events and competitions.
Your update should include a sentence of compelling (non sales) text with an eye catching photo and a link to somewhere they can buy something or enquire or find out more. Your photo or graphic can only include 20% text or it wont be approved by the Facebook ad team.
Make sure the audience you create for each ad is appropriate to the product or service you are promoting. The beauty of this is that you can show different posts to a completely different audience and craft graphics to appeal to that audience. It is worth investing in royalty free photos from an online service like Fotolia, using a graphics program like Canva or talking to your graphic designer.
“From a user’s perspective, photos are also the most engaging type of content on Facebook, with a whopping 87% interaction rate from fans! No other post type received more than a 4% interaction rate.” More on Social Media Examiner…
Website Facebook Promotions
Facebook has recently introduced other advertising options. You can promote your website directly from your ad so when people click on it they go to your website. You can also promote your ‘Call to Action’ button which sits on the bottom right of your Facebook cover photo. This ad links to wherever your button links to – website shop, booking page, app etc.

Very easy to work with, we were provided with action lists, guiding the information we needed to provide, which helped us get organised, and made the whole process very quick from start to finish.
